Adiquímica’s carbon footprint: commitment and sustainable improvements

Adiquímica is driving its commitment to preserve and protect the environment, this time by calculating the carbon footprint of its activities using 2021 data. This calculation allows the organization to obtain recognition from an accredited body, as well as establish a base year to compare CO2-equivalent emissions in future reporting periods.

With the support of Baker Tilly Ecogesa, the 2021 calculation has been registered with MITECO using the official calculator and the emission factors for that year.

In parallel, a report has been prepared that includes, in addition to direct emissions (fuel consumption from vehicles), indirect emissions (such as emissions derived from electricity consumption, water consumption, non-hazardous waste management, inter-site transport of samples, employee commuting to workplaces, and product distribution), all with traceability regarding the emission factors used for the calculation, as required by the current version of the international standard ISO 14064-1. The report sets out a series of improvement measures that Adiquímica is taking on board to implement, in order to reduce its carbon footprint going forward.
