Secondment at Baker Tilly Spain
From which city, country, and department did you come from? And how long was your experience?
I work at the Milton Keynes office of MHA, the UK member of Baker Tilly. I was in Madrid and Barcelona working with the team from Baker Tilly Spain for a week in May 2024.
What has it been like to work for another Baker Tilly country?
I continued with my usual work, but doing so in the offices of Baker Tilly Spain. It was great to be able to discuss joint projects with my Spanish colleagues in person and also have a technical issue discussion.
Why did you want to do this experience?
Part of my role in the UK is to co-ordinate services for our clients that require input from members of the Baker Tilly network outside the UK. As part of this, I work closely with the team in Spain and I thought this was a great opportunity to get to know the team better.
What has your experience been like? How did you find your team? What did you visit?
It was a brilliant experience, and the team were very welcoming and spent a lot of time with us (I was also there with Marc van Weert from Baker Tilly Netherlands). We were in the Madrid office for a few days, followed by the Barcelona office.
What would you highlight the most of this experience? Do you encourage your colleagues to take advantage of these secondments?
I enjoyed spending time with the Baker Tilly Spain team, including a scavenger hunt in the park in Madrid and going for drinks/tapas. I would definitely encourage my collaegues to take up similar opportunities to learn more about the working culture of other firms iwthin the network and to get to know their international colleagues more closely.
